There’s drama, and also an escape from dramatics, misspellings, apologies, gratitude, and even practical instructions for the day after. They hold requests that can only be made a moment before the end, and things we dare to say for the first time only when it’s the last opportunity. All the heroes in this book fell in battle, yet this book is full of life. It’s not about their deaths, but about what they had to say to life—to us, the ones left behind to read these words.
"Im Atem Korim Et HaMilim HaEleh" is a first-of-its-kind literary-documentary project, curating forty-nine final letters written by soldiers who fell in the war that began on October 7th. Most of them have never been published before. This is a piece of history being written now, in the words of young fighters who, with the blood of their hearts, penned new chapters in the Israeli story.
