Joe Lieberman was a US senator from Connecticut for twenty-four years. At the end of his service in January 2013, he was Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and a senior member of the Armed Services Committee. In 2000, he was the Democratic candidate for Vice President of the United States. Senator Lieberman passed away in March 2024 and is survived by Hadassah Freilich Lieberman. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. Hi devotion to Judaism, in particular to Shabbat observance, served as a source of inspiration for the Jewish community not just in his district, or even just the United States, but all over the world.
