Koren Publishers Jerusalem was established in 1961 by master typographer Eliyahu Koren, who set out to publish the first Tanakh (Bible) edited, designed, printed, and bound by Jews in nearly 500 years. The Koren Tanakh (1962), with its specially designed font and clear graphic layout, quickly became recognized the world over for its textual accuracy, and outstanding legibility.

Koren Publishers Jerusalem rethought the nature of Jewish prayer when it published The Koren Siddur, a Hebrew prayer book, in 1981. The Siddur received widespread acclaim for its unique graphic layout that elucidated the prayers’ underlying meanings.

In 2009, Koren Publishers Jerusalem introduced The Koren Sacks Siddur, the first Orthodox, Hebrew/English Siddur for America in a generation. The Siddur exemplifies Koren’s traditions of textual accuracy and intuitive graphic design, and offers an illuminating translation, introduction, and commentary by one of the world’s leading Jewish thinkers, Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks.

Koren Publishers continues to introduce new editions of the The Koren Tanakh, Koren Siddurim, Maḥzorim, Haggadot, and other traditional Jewish texts in Hebrew, English, French, Russian, Amharic, and other languages. It also offers Maggid Books, an imprint that highlights the work of today’s leading Jewish philosophers, commentators, and scholars.
